Approximate Number of Members: 900,000

Association Annual Membership Fee: $10

Letter from the President:
Dear Prospective Member,
It's hard not to experience a sense of wonder as we look at a verdant forest or grove. It's also impossible not to feel a sense of pride when we've had a hand in planting or tending those trees. Trees stand strong today and for generations to come. They grace our homes and parks, our streets, schoolyards, and all of the places where we live, work and play. Just as importantly, trees connect us with each other and with the natural world around us.

While each tree we plant becomes part of the global forest that keeps our planet healthy and strong, it also joins us with people around the world who share our love of trees. The coffee farmers who raise shade-grown coffee are helping preserve the rain forest. The American farmers who plant Conservation Trees to protect fields and streams also contribute to global environmental stewardship. The concerned citizens who step forward, working to earn their communities Tree City USA designation, are doing their part. And so are the concerned professionals and lay enthusiasts who attend National Arbor Day Foundation conferences and seminars, who encourage their utilities to become Tree Line USA companies, and who educate our young about the need to plant trees and protect the environment.

The National Arbor Day Foundation is made up of hundreds of thousands of members and friends who are working to make our shared vision a reality. Much remains to be done-from combating the destruction of Earth's rain forests at the rate of 96,000 acres every day, to halting the urban sprawl that is threatening cities across the world. But much is also being achieved, including a record number of Tree City USAs, a growing awareness of the plight of our tropical forests and wetlands, a desire to support sustainably grown crops, and the increasing ranks of builders, developers, and homeowners who are pledging to preserve trees while building homes and cities for themselves and their children.

These are accomplishments in which we can all take pride. They are also part of our common heritage, and of the legacy we are preparing for the generations to come.
Best regards,

John Rosenow
President
